HARRY GOODWINS
Interview by: Karen Grace
Already a highly successful model, Harry Goodwins is fast gaining recognition as a talented actor. His rugged Viking-esque looks brought him international fame on the runway and on the pages of magazines. Now his performing abilities are proving to be a hit in the entertainment industry.
Playing Eastender Jack Glass, in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix action comedy ‘The Gentlemen’ has raised his profile in the acting world. He has just completed his latest role in RZA’s movie ‘One Spoon of Chocolate’ where his character takes on a more villainous streak. And now he is back in London to start Series 2 of The Gentlemen and we will see him again portraying the cheeky chappie that is Jack Glass.
Brought up in East London, Harry decided to relocate to sunny L.A. in pursuit of more acting opportunities. So we were happy that in-between attending glamorous events, we managed to catch up with him during his latest stay in London to have an informal chat about his acting profession.
This East End boy has come a long way.
Interview Questions
Welcome back to London and thanks for taking a day out of your hectic schedule to meet up. Can you tell us a bit about your plans whilst in London?
Feels great to be back in my home city, Been a while since I’ve been Catching up with family and friends, and of course filming for season 2 of the gentlemen ( the main reason I’m back)
We can’t wait to watch it. And we hear you didn’t need a stunt man for your boxing scenes!
You’ve just completed your latest movie role in the film One Spoon of Chocolate. Watching the trailer, it seems to be full of raw emotions and violence, would you agree? And how did you calm yourself from all this negativity after each day of shooting? Did you have a before and after routine that helped?
Yes I would have to agree! And just tend to let it all go on set so you can enjoy the down time when you’re finished for the day.
And your daily morning yoga ritual in the Californian sunshine must have helped to relieve the stress.
Were you able to have any light hearted moments on set with the crew and do you have any moments you can share with us?
There were many light hearted moments, and a very wonderful crew and cast. Very professional also… just out here doing the work and what’s best for the story
What was it like to work with a director who is also the writer of the movie?
The RZA, what a legend for starters. But it was great, its his vision from start to finish so no conflict of interest etc
Both being gang members, how does your character in your new movie One Spoon of Chocolate differ to Jack Glass in The Gentlemen?
Both very different and from different sides of the pond
Yes, very different. We can see Jack Glass in a cheeky lovable light but probably not your character in One Spoon of Chocolate.
After playing a villain these past years, do you have any ambitions to play a hero, whether that is just the humble good guy or a superhero?
I’ve just recently wrapped something who’s not such a bad guy ha… but of course I’m up to play an array of roles… but super hero ( Green Arrow) love that guy
We think you’d make the perfect Green Arrow. You certainly look like him: with your golden blond hair sleeked back as Oliver Jonas Queen and tousled as the Green Arrow. Plus the facial hair, chiselled looks and not to mention your height and toned physique! You would also look great in green too.
Do you prefer working on a tv series or a movie?
I love my job so I don’t have a preference I’m afraid. Happy to be working and blessed
Would you consider theatre work?
I would love to try my hand at theatre and push myself… currently just saw that Tarantino is coming to the west end…
Has having a British accent hindered your auditions for past roles in the American film industry, and do you think hiring a voice coach to learn different accents/dialects increases your chances?
I wouldn’t say it’s hindered me, I certainly would say it increases your chances of working if you can add more strings to your now for sure
Which actor would you like to work with?
Could sit here all day on this one
Do you have anything in the pipeline after the second series of The Gentlemen finishes?
Let’s hope so
We have our fingers crossed for you Harry! And good luck landing the role of Green Arrow.
Thanks again Harry for your time to make this happen! Much appreciated.
My pleasure Thank you
